Hyperlinked A-Z indexes
Back-of-the-book style indexes with main entries or subentries hyperlinked to the relevant Web page or page section. The Web index examples linked to on this site are of this kind.

Meta-tag keywords indexing
Assigning keywords or phrases to Web pages or Web sites within a meta-tag field, so that the Web page or Web site can be retrieved with a search engine that is customized to search the keywords field. This may or may not involve using keywords restricted to a controlled vocabulary list.

Keyword creation for search engine optimization
Assigning optimal keywords or phrases to a Web site to so that it will be higher ranked in Web search engine retrieval results. It involves considerations of the keyword's frequency of use by searchers and the numbers of other sites with the same keyword. This may also include developing optimal labels throughout a site, in titles, headings, alt-tags, etc.

Taxonomies/categories
Developing hierarchical category schemes, typically of at least three levels, for users to "drill-down" from broad concepts to the narrowest term. (Hyperlinks to content may be limited to the most specific level or may be at any level of the hierarchy.) Development of multiple types of categories, for faceted classification, may also be involved.

Thesauri/controlled vocabularies
Developing a controlled/limited set of terms that are to be used for indexing, with the aim of providing consistency, especially among multiple documents, multiple indexers, or over time, such as for periodicals. Cross-references need to created, but the terms may or may not be in a thesaurus structure (broader term, narrower term, related term relationships)

Site maps
Creating "tables of contents" for Web sites and formatting them in way that is easy to browse. Site map entries tend to be taken from Web page titles, but the entry names may be modified.

Content management systems
Consulting to provide indexing, taxonomy, or controlled vocabulary services used in customizing a content management system for managing and enterprises varied document resources. Indication of the specific content management system used is recommended.
